In 1 Corinthians 10:31, Paul says, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” It made me think about the things I do to glorify God and it definitely made me think about the things I do that don’t glorify God. Then, there’s everything else: the stuff that doesn’t really honor God, but doesn’t necessarily dishonor Him either. The problem is, that’s not the command Paul gives us. Paul tells us that everything we do should be done “to the glory of God”, even the “everything else”. Paul says it ALL should be done for God’s glory! That means worshipping God while doing routine things, mundane things, things that just have to get done. “Thank you, Lord, for the house You provided me that needs a lot of work this spring.” “God, help me show my son the love of Jesus when I have to spank him…again!” “Lord, help me to trust You and not worry about the conversation that I have to have at work today.” It’s those things in which Paul wants us to glorify God. It’s not just my daily devotional or giving up time with my family to serve in a ministry. It’s “everything else”!
