I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

READ: Colossians 1:13-23, Romans 8:28-30 (Life Point)
SHARE: Consider the implications of God’s “Big Story” found in Colossians 1. What does this show you about Jesus’ role in your life? We all face challenging times and many times it is difficult for us to see the good that may come from a particular situation. Romans 8:28 speaks about a “good” that God wants to work out in your life… So, what is that “good” in your life? (The key is verses 29-30).
PRAY: Ask the Lord to give you a better understanding of his sovereignty and the impact that should have in your life.
Parents – Refer to the “One Conversation” page for further discussion with your children.
READ: John 1:1-4, Colossians 1:15-17
SHARE: It’s clear that, even though Jesus is 100% God in character and nature, He also comes from a long line of sinful men and women. How can Jesus be completely human, descending from sinful people, but still be sinless while living His life on the earth? Who was Jesus‘ father while He lived on the earth? When did Jesus first come into existence?
PRAY: Praise God for sending Jesus to take our place on the cross. Acknowledge to God that Jesus is the only one who could have made the adequate sacrifice as both God and man.
It is important for us to view our lives from the perspective of GOD’s “big plan” for all of humanity. Work together to clarify GOD’s big story using the four realities of Creation, The Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. (For further understanding refer to Pastor Joel’s sermon: The Story of God’s Great Love: Part 1 on Jan. 8, 2012)
