READ: Colossians 1:9-17
SHARE: In Paul’s prayer for the believers in Colossae, what did he pray that they would be filled with and walk in? In order to “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord” how we see ourselves must match how Jesus sees us…not slaves of sin, but slaves of righteousness (Rom. 6:18). Our self-worth is found not in who we are, but in whose we are. We are significant because we belong to Jesus Christ.
PRAY: Pray that we will see ourselves as Jesus sees us so that our lives will reflect Him.
Parents – Refer to the “One Conversation” page for further discussion with your children.
READ: Matthew 2:1-21
SHARE: So many of the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth were difficult, filled with uncertainty and definitely not the serene picture portrayed in nativity scenes and on greeting cards. Why would God choose to place His only Son in such turbulent times and situations?
PRAY: Thank God for sacrificing His only Son by sending him to live as one of us on the earth. Thank Jesus for giving up the glories of heaven to come in the middle of our broken an chaotic world. Ask God to help you to trust Him to work out His plan and purpose in the middle of turbulent and uncertain times.
As the Church, we are the body of Christ. As a result, we are called to live differently in the world because of our identity in Christ. If Grace Life Baptist Church ceased to exist, would it matter to our community? Church is not where we go or what we do, but rather who we are…The Body of Christ. How are we doing at being The Body of Christ?
