Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men.

READ: Colossians 3:1-25
SHARE: This chapter provides us a glimpse of what life in Christ should look like, as compared to our life before we knew Jesus personally. Paul, the author, uses words like a paintbrush to give us clear understanding of how we ought to live. Take some time to identify and talk about these colorful descriptions. How do these passages relate to finding joy in what we do… especially in our “work” and our “service” to others? Remember, God has given us a good work to do, because work is a good gift from God.
PRAY: Praise God for the good work you see Him working in your life and in the life of your family members. Thank God for the ability he has given you to work and serve. Ask Him to help you serve with a good attitude.
Parents – Refer to the “One Conversation” page for further discussion with your children.
READ: Ephesians 4:32
SHARE: The first thing Jesus said as He hung on the cross was, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Wrongly accused, mocked, betrayed, abandoned, beaten and now nailed to a tree and yet Jesus is forgiving the very ones who are participating in this barbaric activity (and not just them but us too). Is there sin in your life right now that you need to ask God to forgive you for? Is there someone that you need to forgive? Ephesians 4:32 tells us to forgive each other just as in Christ God forgave us.
PRAY: Confess to the Lord any sin that you need His forgiveness for. If there is someone else that you need to forgive ask the Lord to help you to do that.
4-Core Conversation / Serve
READ: John 12:26
SHARE: From this passage, what is the requirement for SERVING Christ? Talk about the relationship between following and being with Christ, and SERVING Christ. What are everyday ways we can SERVE Jesus? What is the promise Jesus gives to those who SERVE Him? Share together what it might mean to be honored by God the Father. Read Matthew 20:28 and talk about the example Jesus has provided.
PRAY: Ask God to develop in you a servant’s heart and to be sensitive to the daily opportunities He provides for you to serve Jesus.
