Missions

Loveless Park was founded as a mission outreach of Second Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama in 1943 so mission work has been an emphasis literally from our beginning. As a Southern Baptist Church, we are committed to supporting with our prayers and our finances global missions through the International Mission Board and home missions through the North American Mission Board. As our community has evolved from an agricultural area to one of the fastest growing residential area in Jefferson County the local mission needs have changed as we are trying to stay in touch with the community needs. Our longstanding support of groups like the Sav-a-life program and the Foundry has been complimented by work with First Priority in our schools.

Annual events like Vacation Bible School and Trunk or Treat at the church facilities have attempted to reach out to those in our community to show Christ’s Love. Our ministry will continue to expand with the addition of the Shadow Lake property and events like the community Easter Egg Hunt and the Pumpkin Patch at Shadow Lake are examples of what God is leading our church to undertake to reach out to those around us.

Local Missions

fp-logo1 Our church networks with other churches in the area to reach our school campuses for Christ. We do this through the ministry of First Priority. Many of our students and our Student Minister meet several times a week at McAdory High & Middle School to seek how God would use us to reach our schools.

sav-a-life-logo Sav-a-life Bessemer/Hueytown, an affiliate of Care-Net, is a local organization that we have worked along side since 1980. They minister to young girls and their families who are experiencing trauma as a result of an unexpected pregnancy or abortion. They offer a Pregnancy Test Center, Preparing for Your Baby classes and Abortion Recovery Ministry. They are also involved with the following extended Ministries to the community – Sex and Family Education – an abstinence program to educate students, Lifeline Children Services – a Christian state licensed adoption agency and Lifeline Village – a home for pregnant mothers choosing to place for adoption or girls that are in need of a safe secure home.

Global Missions

imb-logo The International Mission Board (formerly Foreign Mission Board) is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest evangelical denomination, claiming more than 40,000 churches with nearly 16 million members.

God has called His people to proclaim His name among all peoples. This is our task. But 4,992 people groups, live in The Last Frontier—the part of the world with little or no access to the gospel. That’s 1.6 billion people who have virtually no chance of hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.

But God is using Southern Baptists to carry the light of Jesus to people groups in spiritual darkness across the globe. Your gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® for International Missions and the Cooperative Program help to dispel that darkness—so that all peoples may know Him.

interior_logo The North American Mission Board (NAMB) is the domestic missions agency of the Southern Baptist Convention. Our defined mission is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, start New Testament congregations, minister to persons in the name of Christ, and assist churches in the United States, Canada and U.S. territories in effectively performing these functions.

Specifically, we do this by focusing on six major objectives that also form the basis for how this Web site is structured: sharing Christ, starting churches, volunteering in missions, sending missionaries, impacting the culture and equipping leaders. The end goal is reflected in our vision statement:

“We see a day when every person in every community in the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to hear the gospel, respond with faith in Christ, and participate in a New Testament fellowship of believers.”
